History
A county was formed inside 1842 from part of Calloway County. A number 1 class action settlement wwhen about 1818, whenever a vicinity was bought from either Indigen Americans as section of the Jackson Purchase.

A creation of Kentucky Lake by the Tennessee Valley Authority in a 1940s brought touristry & industry to the county by having resorts along the flow of any stream & chemical substance & factory, mostly in the Calvert City area, attracted by the dam's inexpensive & plentiful electricity.
